Tucked off Alpine Way drive, Geehi Flats campground has flat, grassy sites by the banks of the Swampy Plain River. Pitch your tent or set up your camper or caravan with a view of the soaring high alpine peaks of the Snowy Mountains as a backdrop.
Stop for a picnic, lace up your walking shoes, saddle up the horse, or bring your mountain bike and reconnect with nature along the many trails in this area. Discover historic stone huts along Geehi Huts trail, or ride a section of the epic Bicentennial trail. Nearby, Geehi Reservoir and Olsens lookoutoffer uninterrupted views of the Western Fall of the Main Range (no winter access).
In summer, the crystal-clear Swampy Plain River is ideal for swimming, tubing or kayaking. Fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout is a popular pastime here. There are also great 4WD trails around Geehi Walls, Major Clews Hut, and Tom Groggin.
As the sun sets on the mountains, relax around the campfire and watch the resident Eastern grey kangaroos grazing. Geehi is also home to a large population of wombats. Closer to dark, you might see shy red-necked and swamp wallabies, as well as possums.
